Gifford Farm Education Center
A 400-acre working farm near the Missouri River in Bellevue. Program tours include Gifford Farm Tour, pet farm animals, learn about crops, jump from a hay mow and pump water from a windmill), Animals on the Go, Planetarium, W.O.O.D.S. (study of floodplain ecosystem), Friends of Discovery (A Journey with Lewis and Clark) and Team Challenge. Facility has an indoor classroom and educational center. Gifford’s Point, 1300 acres of nearby river-bottom forest, is home to white-tailed deer, many bird species, wild turkey, beaver, ground hogs, mink, rabbits, raccoons, fox, and coyotes.
Directions: Take the Kennedy Freeway south to the first Bellevue exit called Chandler road. Turn east on Chandler to Fort Crook road (Hwy 75) then south on Fort Crook to Childs road.
